(Story updated with news of more hiring opportunities) NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Even as job growth continues to disappoint, evidence of a nascent economic recovery has begun to show. Companies across the U.S. have begun to add jobs and replace laid-off workers.

The Labor Department indicated that the number of Americans filing unemployment claims last week unexpectedly rose. At the same time the latest Beige Book data indicated that labor market conditions were generally improving across the Federal Reserve's 12 districts.
